WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR MEDITERRANEAN CRUISES:


- Mediterranean cruises require that all guests 12 years and older must be fully vaccinated. 

Guests 12 years and older who are fully vaccinated are able to cruise and must present proof of COVID-19 vaccine with the final dose being administered at least 14 days before the cruise. Children 11 years old and younger can sail as long as the adult(s) traveling with them are fully vaccinated

We will continue to evaluate these requirements as local public health standards evolve. Please read all of the requirements below to ensure you are not denied boarding. 

 

TRAVEL INSURANCE REQUIRED: 

All bookings are required to purchase a travel protection plan with coverage for COVID-19. If insurance is purchased through MSC Cruises, you must purchase the insurance through your country of residence. You must either purchase insurance through MSC Cruises or present at the pier documentation of sufficient coverage purchased from another provide or you will be denied boarding. If purchased through MSC Cruises, this must be completed prior to making final payment on your booking.

    VACCINE REQUIREMENTS: 

    • All guests 12 years & older must be fully vaccinated (final dose being administered at least 14 days prior to embarkation) with a COVID-19 approved vaccine: Pfizer, Moderna, Astrazeneca or Johnson & Johnson


    COVID-19 TEST REQUIREMENTS:

    • All guests 2 years & older must show proof of a negative COVID-19 result (RT-PCR test) taken no more than 2 days before boarding

    The original test results certificate or vaccination certificate must be presented at the terminal (paper or electronic format) and must be in one of the following languages: English, Italian, German, French or Spanish.  The COVID 19 test certificate must contain: guest’s personal data (verifiable with the other travel documents), date of the test, identification / contact details of the centre that performed the analysis, technique used and negative test result.

  • Schengen Countries and Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia & Cyprus

    For all sailings, please note that all Schengen countries and Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia and Cyprus guests will need to follow at least one of these requirements to be allowed on board:   

     
    • Guests 12 and older: Be fully vaccinated (final dose being administered at least 14 days prior to embarkation) with an approved COVID-19 vaccine: Pfizer, Moderna, Astrazeneca or Johnson & Johnson + provide documentation of a negative RT-PCR or antigen test no more than 2 days before boarding the ship (2 years and older)
    • OR Have recovered from COVID-19 within the last 6 months + provide documentation of negative RT-PCR or antigen test no more than 2 days before boarding the ship (2 years and older) 
    • Guests 2 - 11 years old: Provide documentation of a negative RT-PCR or antigen test no more than 2 days before boarding the ship

    The original test results certificate or vaccination or recovery certificate must be presented at the terminal (paper or electronic format) and must be in one of the following languages: English, Italian, German, French or Spanish.     Important notice for Guests embarking in Valletta (Malta), you must:

    •  Provide documentation of a negative RT-PCR test no more than 2 days before boarding the ship (2 years  and older). For Malta residents, an antigen test will also be accepted.

    • Be fully vaccinated (12 years and older). Guests are considered fully vaccinated if they received the full set of vaccine shots more than 14 days before the start of the cruise with an approved Covid-19 vaccine including Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson. A “mix-and-match” combination of the above list of vaccines is accepted.

  • All Guests

    For a seamless embarkation process, please make sure to review our Health & safety protocol below and bring the necessary documentation and items:

     


    PROPER DOCUMENTATION FOR BOARDING:

    • Must present your vaccine card/certificate at the pier upon check-in. Accepted proof: paper or electronic format and must be in one of the following languages: English, Italian, German, Spanish or French
    • U.S. residents & Non-Schengen countries: All guests 2 years & older must show proof of a negative COVID-19 result (RT-PCR) taken no more than 2 days before boarding
    • Schengen countries: All guests 2 years & older must show proof of a negative COVID-19 result (RT-PCR or antigen) taken no more than 2 days before boarding
    • Travel insurance documentation with proper coverage for COVID-19
    • Travel documents including passport, visa(s) - if applicable, e-ticket, health questionnaire (located within the e-ticket)

     

    OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

    • You will be required to wear a mask throughout the terminal and during embarkation
    • Your cruise ticket will include a set arrival time. Please follow the policy and arrive at your designated time, otherwise you may be asked to wait outside until your embarkation time
  • We will deny boarding if:
    • You have a fever (> 99.5 F/ 37.5 C), cough, shortness of breath, chills, muscle/body aches, fatigue, headache, sore throat and loss of taste/smell within 14 days prior to embarkation
    • Potential exposure to a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19 within 14 days prior to embarkation
    • Temporary travel restrictions based on local circumstances. For example, certain countries may deny visas or prohibit entry based on travel history or nationality
    • Failure to provide the proof of the mandatory COVID-19 insurance policy (which must be in one of the following languages: English, Italian, German, French or Spanish)

Onboard, Ashore & Disembarkation

  • All Guests
    IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
    • Face masks are required for all guests when in public areas, except when seated in restaurants, bars, lounges, and when sitting on the sun deck
    • If you become symptomatic during your cruise, you will be required to take a RT-PCR test on board (covered by MSC Cruises)
    • A COVID-19 test may be required to return home. MSC Cruises has organized the possibility for its guests to purchase and perform a molecular test (i.e. RT-PCR) or an antigen test during their cruise. Visit our FAQ for more information. In addition, a PASSENGER LOCATOR FORM (PLF) may still be necessary for national or international mobility requirement: it’s every guest’s responsibility to verify this requirement before departure. For more information, it is recommended to check your country’s official requirements

     
  • Shore Excursions
    SHORE EXCURSIONS:

    • If you wish to go ashore during your cruise, you will be required to participate in an MSC shore excursion to ensure the same high standards of health and safety ashore as on board. Select excursions will require an official COVID-19 certificate to access certain venues (i.e.. museums, churches, etc.) or to participate in an event. Please read all the details of the excursion, when making a reservation for a shore excursion.
    • Beginning March 2022, guests who are fully vaccinated may be allowed to ashore independently and will need to follow the requirements of going ashore according to the countries they will visit.
