MSC EURIBIA

CRUISING THE BLUE SEA IN A GREEN WAY

When MSC Euribia debuts in June 2023, she’ll offer breathtaking 7-night itineraries to the Norwegian fjords from Kiel, Germany followed by 4 and 5-night sailings from Genoa, Italy, visiting favorite cities in the Mediterranean. She is named after the ancient goddess Eurybia who harnessed the winds, weather, and constellations to master the seas. Fittingly, the vision of our newest ship is to use state-of-the-art sustainable technologies to protect and preserve our marine ecosystem. No matter where she cruises, MSC Euribia’s uniquely designed hull is a floating piece of artwork that showcases our dedication to this commitment.

MAIN FEATURES

Iconic Design

In October 2021, MSC Cruises launched a worldwide competition in search of an artist to design original artwork for MSC Euribia’s hull that would symbolize our commitment to the sea.  The unique and iconic design by artist Alex Flämig has been chosen to represent our message of dedication to the marine ecosystem. His artwork, #SaveTheSea, will be permanently featured on the ship’s hull and the five finalists will have their designs displayed aboard the ship in a new art gallery.

LNG-Powered Ship

Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) is a cleaner-burning fuel that reduces emissions, virtually eliminating sulphur oxides (SOx) and particulates and reducing nitrogen oxides (NOx) by 85%. The elimination of SOx from the fuel means EGCS (scrubbers) will not be required. LNG will reduce emissions of greenhouse gases by up to 20%. In addition, the hull of the ship is coated with special paint to reduce the growth of organisms, reduce drag, and maintain efficiency through the water.

Environmental Stewardship

MSC Euribia features an advanced onboard wastewater treatment system. All wastewater on board is directed to the water treatment system so that no water leaves the ship without specific treatment that cleans the water to the highest standards. This avoids unknown ocean organisms from being transported from one ocean area to other, which could threaten local ecosystems. Any waste materials collected are sorted for recycling, and we have significantly reduced plastic waste by eliminating or replacing single-use plastic items. In addition, energy efficiency efforts include energy-saving equipment that maximizes efficiency such as smart heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.
