As the birthplace of the famous Petrovic-Njegoš dynasty – which ruled the country from 1696 to 1918 – the village is of immense importance for Montenegro. Nowadays, pretty little Njeguši is particularly noted for its traditional production of the delicious njeguški sir, a ricotta-like cheese, and the equally tasty njeguški pršut, a high-quality type of air-dried ham. A stop will be made to give you a chance to try some of these superb local specialities, which are sure to tantalise your taste buds in the best possible way. The region is also home to the beautiful Petrovic Castle and other sites of key cultural and historical importance.
