A beautiful and charming city
Kristiansand is the biggest city on the south coast of Norway and the most southern city in the country. Thanks to its special location, Kristiansand boasts some of Norway’s best beaches and the area is a renowned holiday spot.
Kristiansand is a charming city and still retains many of the 17th century buildings from its founding days by King Christian IV; the Renaissance style is clearly seen in the streets around the Kvadraten area whereas ‘Posebyen’, the oldest section of town boasts tiny, charming houses in a style typical of the region.

Port average temperature
Kristiansand and the Agder counties usually have a lot of summer sunshine compared to most of Norway. There may be heavy snowfall in winter with south-southeasterly winds, but the snow rarely stays long at the coast, see climate. In the summer most locals go to the Fish Market and Hamresanden Beach which is located near Kjevik airport. People from Denmark, Sweden, Germany, the UK and other European countries also visit this beach in the summer during their travels.
The temperate figures shown are based on monthly average weather conditions for the selected port. Weather data is not real-time, and sometimes no data is shown for a specific date, month or port in general.
