KIE02T/02D - MARITIME KIEL - 4 hours - 2012
This is a panoramic tour of Kiel, the capital of the state of Schleswig-Holstein and a traditional maritime and naval city. During your city tour, you can admire the imposing canal which connects the Northern and Baltic Seas. We will then visit the Laboe Naval Memorial, a monument dedicated to sailor lost at sea during the two world wars. Naval history enthusiasts will be keen to see the U-995 submarine, which served in the German Kriegsmarine from 1943 to 1945, prowling for the North Sea and Arctic for Allied convoys. The memorial also offers a magnificent bird's eye view of the surrounding landscapes of northern Germany. KIE06T - MOLFSEE - 4 hours - 2012 This entertaining tour begins with a short sightseeing tour of Kiel, the capital of the German state of Schleswig-Holstein and a city with a long maritime and naval history. On leaving the port, the tour then continues on to the small town of Molfsee and its historical open air museum, the largest in northern Germany and a place where time seems to have stood still. Spread over the huge area covered by the museum are more than 70 restored historical buildings, from north German farmhouses, cottages and barns to windmills and an old-fashioned fairground - all displayed along with the usual paraphernalia found in each setting. Enjoy a scenic tour of Hamburg past the Alster Lake and the "Speicherstadt" with its pretty canal.
