Port Mahon

Port Mahon is the capital of the Spanish island of Minorca (also Menorca), part of Spain’s Balearic Islands.

Picturesque villages and delightful Mediterranean scenery

Port Mahon is the capital of the Spanish island of Minorca (also Menorca), part of Spain’s Balearic Islands.

A popular holiday destination, Minorca is dotted with picturesque villages and delightful Mediterranean scenery, so you can plan your day according to your mood, whether its history and the arts to walking and lazing on the beach.

With an extensive selection of excursions, everyone will find a day trip to suit them whilst benefiting from the best deals on the top sights. Leave your luxury cruise ship for the day to explore quaint Ciutadella, the island’s former capital.

Archaeology fans will be fascinated to learn about the local history with a trip to the stone settlements at Trepucó, Talatí de Dalt, Torre d'en Galmés or Son Catlar. Known as ‘Taloits’, these mysterious monuments were erected by native civilisations in 1400 BC. One of the world’s most ancient buildings is found on the island – the Naveta de Tudons, which is a stone burial monument.

If you’re more in the mood for shopping, local souvenirs will prove useful as well as offering a lasting reminder of your vacation: the traditional leather sandals, ‘Albarques’ and local gin, ‘Xoriguer’ are just two good examples! If you are looking to really escape the crowds, spend the day off the ship and on the beach, perhaps at Cala Alcaufar.

With clean sandy shores and crystal clear waters, this is a fine way to spend another day on your Mediterranean cruise.
