MAH01 - DISCOVER "CIUTADELLA" (approx. 4.5 hours) - 2013
Enjoy an excursion that offers a comprehensive visit of some of the most beautiful towns in Minorca, with a special stop at the picture-postcard town of Ciutadella. We will leave the port and drive to the sweeping horse-shoe beach of “Arenal d’en Castell” where we will stop for pictures. Our next stop will be at Fornells located in the northern coast of the island. Fornells is a small pretty fishing village of white-washed houses with green shutters; enjoy a pleasant walk around before heading back to Ciutadella for a proper visit. Formerly the old capital of Minorca and an historic walled town, Ciutadella was partly rebuilt in the XVII and XVIII centuries. We will walk around the narrow streets of the old quarter and admire the traditional architecture. The excursion is rounded off a trip up to Mount Toro, the island’s highest point, to enjoy lovely views. Please note: this tour is not recommended for guests with walking difficulties or using a wheelchair as it includes walking on uneven ground. Guests also have to walk approx. 350 metres from the bus car parking to the Ciutadella.

Here we will stop to explore the “Nuestra Señora del Toro” monastery, built by the monks of St. Augustin’s Order in the XVII century. MAH04 - LLOC DE MENORCA & SON BOU BEACH (approx. 4.5 hours) - 2013
Leave the ship for a half-day outing that promises to be family-friendly, highly entertaining and even informative – a visit to one of Menorca’s top attractions, the Lloc de Menorca zoological park. Situated only a short coach ride from the port of Mahon in the town of Alaior, the zoo’s attractively landscaped grounds, including lakes and ponds that cater to water dwellers, are home to frisky monkeys, friendly dwarf goats, slow-moving giant tortoises, spiny porcupines and jewel-coloured, parading peacocks. Add to that a reptile house squirming with snakes, an aviary that provides a habitat for various bird species, including some elusive parrots hiding in the leafy trees, as well as an adventure playground for kids plus a snack bar and you have a zoo experience that ticks every box. A short drive then follows to the 3 kilometres of golden sands at Son Bou Beach, which is not only the longest but also one of the most beautiful beaches in Minorca. After a little time to enjoy the gorgeous setting, the coach will return you to Mahon and your ship. Please note: this tour operates from mid-June to mid-September.

MAH05 - TRANSFER TO SON BOU BEACH (approx. 4 hours) - 2013
In recognition of the respect with which the island’s inhabitants have always treated their natural environment throughout the centuries, Minorca was declared a UNESCO biosphere reserve in 1993. This tour will not only give you a chance to enjoy some of Minorca’s lovely landscape on your 30-minute coach trip from the port, but also take you to visit one of the island’s most popular destinations: the 3-kilometre stretch of golden sands known as Son Bou Beach. The island’s southern coastline is a place of great beauty, characterised by fine pale sands flanked by pine forests to the one side and dazzling turquoise waters to the other. Son Bou Beach itself is not only the longest on Minorca, but also one of its most appealing due to its soft sands and family-friendly amenities. You will then have a couple of hours to enjoy beach life – including various water sports and other beach activities (not included in the price of the tour) – before you head back to the port and your ship.
