A thriving holiday destination
Palamos is on the Costa Brava, 160 kilometres of rugged coastline situated in northeast Spain, in the region of Catalonia.
This stretch of coast has been a hugely popular tourist destination since the 1950s, due to its great beaches and beautiful, craggy scenery: indeed ‘brava’ means ‘wild’ or ‘rugged’ in Spanish.
The town of Palamos is the latest addition to MSC Cruises’ Mediterranean itinerary. Once a small sleepy fishing village, today Palamos is a thriving holiday destination and there is a great deal to see and do in the town and in the area.

Art lovers can spend the day away from their luxury cruise liner in the town of Figueres, home to the extraordinary Salvador Dali Museum. Not only does it contain hundreds of Dali’s paintings, but the museum itself is surreally shaped! Good news for those who have yet to visit the vibrant city of Barcelona - it is just 1.5 hours away and makes a great day off the ship.
Another highlight of this area is the beautiful city of Girona (about 30 minutes away). Gironar’s ‘Barri Vell’ or old town is home to many interesting monuments including 12th century Arabian baths and a stunning gothic cathedral. Palamos itself is quaint and pretty with a great sandy beach. Spend your time strolling the promenade or take in the fishing museum, one of the most important in Europe.
