Embarkation begins at the time indicated on your cruise ticket.
Check-in closes one hour before the ship is due to depart, except for American ports where check-in closes 90 minutes before the scheduled departure time.
For some destinations, it is possible to check-in on-line on the web site www.mscwebcheckin.com
Online check-in
www.mscwebcheckin.com has been created to help ensure you get off to a flying start, speeding you through the embarkation process. Thanks to an online check-in procedure you can follow at your convenience before you leave home. All passengers in the same booking will need to register in advance, filling in their personal details and printing the form that is provided at the end of the registration process. The online check-in has to be completed 48 hours before your departure date, otherwise the system will not print the online boarding form needed to complete the embarkation procedure. Please remember that if you do not have this form with you when you embark, you will have to follow the normal check-in procedures. To use the MSC Express priority check-in you will need to present your printed boarding form, cruise ticket and a valid travel document to our staff.
All guests of the MSC Yacht Club (on board MSC Divina, MSC Splendida and MSC Fantasia) will find an exclusive check-in desk and will be assisted with their luggage by the butler team at the terminal, who will escort them to the dedicated line for priority check-in.
On request, the butler will also unpack guests’ suites.
On embarkation, passengers should do as follows (in the order specified):
a) Deliver luggage to the designated staff, who will then have it sent directly to the passenger’s cabin. All bags should be labeled beforehand with the passenger’s name and surname, the name of the ship, the cabin number and the date and port of departure.
b) Go to the check-in desk with cruise ticket and passport.
c) After the document check, passengers will receive a Cruise Card. This is a magnetic card used for onboard payment of excursions, bar bills, laundry, in-cabin service, hairdresser, beauty centre, duty-free shops, photographer and service charge. To activate purchasing with the Cruise Card, passengers must either register their credit card or leave a cash sum. Personal cheques are not accepted. The following credit cards can be registered onboard: Visa, Visa Electron, Mastercard, JCB and American Express. This CASHLESS SYSTEM is valid on all ships. (with the exception of the casino). Please note that on Caribbean, eastbound Transatlantic, South America and South Africa cruises onboard prices are in US dollar. On all other sailings, onboard prices are in Euro.
As a safety precaution, security staff may search a passenger and/or his/her luggage and confiscate any articles that the Company considers could risk the safety of the passengers, crew or ship. On board, staff reserve the right to remove any beverages present in passenger baggage. These will be returned the evening before disembarkation. Passengers are not permitted to bring unpackaged food on board.

questions regarding travel documents and visas, please consult your local consulate.
In all cases, it is recommended that passengers discuss their plans with their doctor or health care professional prior to departure to ensure they are fit to travel. Inoculations are often recommended but in certain conditions they are required. The World Health Organization (WHO) (http://www.who.int/vaccines-diseases) provides guidelines about which vaccinations are necessary for each country.
Guests cruising to Brazil may require an entry visa and/or vaccination against yellow fever. Please note that the following information is subject to change by the Brazilian Authorities without prior notice. Therefore we suggest passengers contact the Brazilian embassy or consulate in their own countries to check the latest information.
Guests enjoying transatlantic cruises to/from South Africa, must have a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate. Yellow fever vaccination is also compulsory for passengers originating from the following countries: Angola, Benin, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Camarões, Congo, Dominican Republic, Gabão, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Ecuador, French New Guinea, Peru, Venezuela, Gambia, Columbia.
From September 2009 South African and Namibian Health Authorities require that all guests arriving from previous African ports are compelled to show proof of Yellow Fever vaccination. Any failure to provide proof of vaccination will result in guests being denied boarding.
With reference to the vaccinations requirement, please note that pregnant women and any person with medical issues must have a doctor's note exempting them from the vaccine.
All of our ships have a well-equipped Medical Center, supervised by a doctor and medical personnel. The Medical Center is open at the times advertised in the ship’s Daily Program. Emergency services are available around the clock by calling the Medical Emergency number. Although, many injuries are capable of being treated on board, the shipboard medical infirmary has limited medical equipment and not all injuries or conditions can be adequately treated aboard the vessels. In some circumstances, the medical personnel may arrange for a visit to a shoreside medical facility at a port- of-call. Depending on the itinerary, available shoreside medical facilities may also have limited treatment capabilities. Due to the nature of sea travel urgent medical evacuation at sea is not always feasible due to reasons beyond MSC's control. Guests should confer with their family physician to ensure they are fit for travel by sea. Although the ship's doctor and medical personnel may wear uniforms or badges with an MSC insignia, the doctor and medical personnel are independent contractors. MSC does not control the medical treatment rendered to guests by the medical personnel aboard its vessels. While the range of medications held on board is comprehensive, they may not satisfy your precise personal needs, and for this reason, we always suggest that Guests carry a supply of their own prescribed medicines. Charges will be made on board for medical services. These charges are displayed in the Medical Center and will be debited automatically to your Cruise Card.
The Passenger warrants that he is fit to travel by sea and that his conduct or condition will not impair the safety of the Cruise Ship or inconvenience the other Passengers. Any passenger with a condition that may affect his fitness to travel is strongly encouraged to check with their personal physician regarding their ability to travel and to obtain a written physician's certificate of Passenger's fitness for an international sea voyage. If it appears to the Company, the Master or the Cruise Ship's Doctor in their sole discretion that a Passenger is for any reason unfit to travel, likely to endanger health or safety, or likely to be refused permission to land at any port, or likely to render the Company liable for Passenger maintenance, support or repatriation, then the Company or the Master shall have the right to take any of the following courses and the Company shall have no further liability to Passenger: (i) Refuse to embark the Passenger at any port; (ii) Disembark the Passenger at any port; (iii) Transfer the Passenger to another berth or cabin; (iv) If the Cruise Ship doctor considers it advisable, to place and confine the Passenger in the Cruise Ship's Infirmary, to Passenger's cabin or any other cabin, or to transfer the Passenger to a health facility at any port, all at the Passenger's expense. Passenger acknowledges that travel by sea involves certain risks and hazards including motion of the vessel by sea conditions and the delay and/or impossibility of immediate evacuation from the vessel in the event of a medical emergency depending on the vessel's location and prevailing sea and weather conditions. The Company shall have no liability and shall owe no full or partial refund in the event the Passenger is refused passage, disembarked, confined to the infirmary or their cabin, or transferred to another berth or cabin pursuant to this section.
Coverage is provided to you This plan applies ONLY to those arrangements booked directly through the company offering this plan. This plan is available to U.S. residents. International airline baggage regulations subject luggage to size and weight limitations; the normal economy class allowance is 20kg. In particular, for the United States passengers are allowed only two items of luggage. Airlines reserve the right to charge a supplement for excess baggage. MSC Cruises accepts no responsibility for issues arising during airport departure or arrival.
Furthermore, valuable luggage travels at the passenger’s own risk. Passengers are advised to carry any medicines, documents etc. in their hand luggage.
Contact MSC at 800-666-9333 for Baggage and Personal Effects Insurance Protection.

Dubai and UAE: Cash exceeding AED 40,000 or its equivalent in foreign currency must be declared to airport customs control on arrival and departure.
For cruises including flight connections, passengers should check in at the airline check-in desk at least two hours before the flight. On arrival at the international destination airport, passengers will find cruise assistance and transfers to the port.
It is recommended that you bring along lightweight, "resort casual" clothing -- including a swimsuit with cover-up, comfortable rubber-soled sandals or deck shoes with to wear poolside, and walking shoes for shore trips. If you like to exercise or participate in sports, bring any fitness clothing and footwear you may need. A hat or visor is recommended for sun protection.
For evenings, resort casual is also appropriate (no jeans, T-shirts, shorts, or bare feet please after 6:00 PM on the ship). Cocktail dresses for women and suits or jacket and ties for men are appropriate for formal evenings (1 formal on 4 to 6-night cruises; 2 formals on 7 to 10-night cruises; 3 formals on 11 to 14-night cruises and 4 on 15-night or longer cruises).
Be sure to pack all items of importance such as tickets, passports, birth certificates, medicines, jewelry, etc. in a separate carry-on bag. On the last evening of your cruise your luggage will be collected for disembarkation the following morning. You will want to pack a separate overnight bag to accomadate your last evenings' clothes and toiletries to carry off the ship with you.
To make sure you can use any electrical equipment such as an electric shaver, please note that the MSC Melody, MSC Armonia, MSC Orchestra, MSC Lirica, MSC Sinfonia, MSC Opera and MSC Musica, MSC Poesia, MSC Fantasia, MSC Splendida and MSC Magnifica offer 110/220V current in the staterooms (twin flat USA Standard pins are required and are available on board). Guests with pre- or post-cruise hotel packages might want to bring converters and/or adapters for their extended stay.
For guests using air transportation, please be sure to check with your air carrier prior to beginning your vacation regarding the items with which you are allowed to bring onboard the aircraft. MSC Cruises also strongly encourages its guests to visit the Department of Homeland Security's web site (ov) and guests traveling through the UK to visit (www.dft.gov.uk) for the most up-to-date traveler information.
MSC Cruises respects the needs and desires of all guests, and we have given careful consideration to the preferences of both those who smoke and those who do not. In line with global standards, smoking areas are generally fewer than non-smoking areas, but smoking is freely permitted in specified areas throughout the fleet (selected mainly on the basis of increased or modified air extraction).
Smoking is not generally permitted in any food service areas (buffets and restaurants), medical centers, child-care areas, corridors or elevator foyers, areas where guests are assembled in groups for safety exercises, disembarkation or tour departures, public toilets, or in bars directly near areas where food is served.
Smoking in all cabins is not allowed, and because of the specific and proven risk of fire, smoking on cabin balconies is not permitted at any time.
Smoking is permitted in several bars on each ship, and on one side (indicated by signage) of the principal outdoor pool deck areas, where ashtrays are provided.
Guests are advised by the Cruise Director and in the Ship’s Daily Program to avoid throwing cigarette butts over the side of the ship, where they could be blown back on board and start a fire
During your cruise, you will meet staff throughout the ship who provide you with excellent service. They are supported by just as many staff and crew who work hard behind the scenes to ensure you enjoy every moment on board.
For your convenience MSC Cruises will automatically add a daily Hotel Service Charge to your shipboard account, based on your chosen itinerary and the number of days for which the services are actually provided. The Hotel Service charge serves to ensure we maintain the highest quality standards of service to our guests. The daily amounts below have been calculated with this in mind and cannot be modified. However, should you wish to remove any of the daily Hotel Service Charge in the unlikely event that you do not receive satisfactory service, you may do so by contacting the Guest Relations Manager on board.

The beverage offering on board the MSC Cruises fleet is the fruit of careful selection and hard work by a team of experts who are passionate about their job. In order to offer our clients a unique and memorable drinks experience, we have developed 10 different themes:
• Martini Bars, evoking the classic American bar, thanks to an interesting and up-to-date selection of the world-famous Martini Cocktails.
• Coffee Bars, where guests can enjoy the atmosphere of an authentic Italian café.
• Cigar Rooms, offering a range of fine spirits that is matched by the elegance of the surroundings and that will satisfy even the most sophisticated connoisseur.
• Jazz Bars, for which we have created a special range of “made to measure” drinks.
• Customized drinks menus have also been prepared for our Sports Bars,Vitamin Bar, Tropical Bars, Spa Bars, Tex-Mex Restaurants and, naturally, for the MSC Yacht Club.
For wine lovers, we have created three different lists: first, a selection of 100 wines for the standard restaurants, designed to satisfy the requirements of our international clientele; secondly, a list for the Wine Bars comprising 90 highly characteristic Italian labels; and thirdly an exclusive selection for the MSC Yacht Club..
All food, drink and related services not included in the cruise price shall be paid at the end of the cruise. A 15% service charge will be added and detailed in the final bill. No tips are therefore requested for bar and dining room staff.
SECURITY INFORMATION
Your Safety & Security
As always, your health, safety and security are of vital importance to all of us at MSC Cruises. That’s why our comprehensive security program includes carefully controlled ship access and screening, plus expert security and medical teams on board each ship. These teams provide around-the-clock security and medical care to ensure a cruise vacation that’s as safe and worry-free as possible for our guests.
A Guide to Onboard Security & Response
The following Security Guide information is available to all guests of our cruise line, as required by the Cruise Vessel Security and Safety Act. This Act was passed into United States law in 2010 and pertains to all cruise lines operating in U.S. waters.
24/7 Emergency Response on Every Ship
In case of an emergency, such as a missing person or criminal activity, please call the ship’s emergency telephone number listed in your stateroom’s directory of services. Or go directly to the Guest Services Desk. If you observe or learn of any unsafe behavior, potentially illegal activity or injury, we ask that you report it immediately through the emergency number or to Guest Services. This will enable our security team to respond quickly and effectively in order to intervene and/or preserve evidence and information, and assist any law enforcement investigation and prosecution.
If medical assistance is needed, our medical staff can also be contacted through the ship’s emergency number or Guest Services.
Jurisdiction & Reporting Information
As a company, it is our policy to report crime allegations to law enforcement in the next port of call and to the nation where our ships are flagged. What’s more, on international voyages that embark or disembark in the U.S., all cruise lines are required by U.S. federal law to report onboard felonies and missing U.S. nationals to federal agencies. Serious felonies are described as homicide, suspicious death, kidnapping, assault with serious bodily injury, sexual assaults (as defined by federal laws), arson or tampering with the vessel, or theft of money or property in excess of $10,000.
These incidents must be reported to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (F.B.I.) by phone as soon as possible, to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security electronically, and to the U.S. Coast Guard in writing. If the victim or alleged perpetrator is a U.S. national, these requirements apply to incidents that occur on board in U.S. territorial waters, on the high seas or in foreign waters. The F.B.I. can assert criminal jurisdiction in all of these circumstances. Each nation visited, and the ship’s nation of registry, may also assert jurisdiction and/or impose additional reporting requirements.
In addition, if you are on a cruise embarking or disembarking in the U.S., you may choose to independently contact the F.B.I. or United States Coast Guard regarding any incident arising during your cruise. For incidents within state or foreign waters or ports you may also contact local law enforcement authorities. Contact information for these entities along with contact information for the locations of U.S. Embassies and Consulates is available from MSC Cruises, please click here.
