Argostoli: Breathtaking mountains dropping down to glittering azure seasIf the name of Argostoli doesn’t sound familiar to vacationers, the name ‘Cefalonia’ (or ‘Kefalonia’) almost certainly will. Yes, the island of Kefalonia provided the setting for the immensely popular film and novel, ‘Captain Corelli's Mandolin’. MSC’s luxury cruise ships stop at the historic port town of Argostoli along our Mediterranean cruise itinerary and fans of the book and film will surely welcome the chance to visit this renowned island.

As sightseeing is thirsty work, our next stop will be for a wine tasting session at Robola before continuing to the village of Sami where you can relax at your leisure. We will continue with a 45-minute transfer to the pristine Myrtos beach, a wide, graceful arc of shimmering sand and pebbles protected by staggeringly steep cliffs. Free time here and a chance to swim in the sea. Please note: the tour includes walking on uneven ground; due to the strong currents at Myrtos beach it is advisable to remain close to the shore while swimming.
